Event History - Alumni, Friends & Family Challenge

Frontier College’s SCRABBLE® Alumni, Friends and Family Challenge began in 2005 during the NHL strike. Unable to watch hockey, friends and families across Canada took out their SCRABBLE® boards, played the game they loved and raised money for literacy. The event proved to be an overwhelming success.

For the past 10 years, hosts have chose a date and invited friends and family to their homes, cottages, campsites or book clubs for a friendly game of SCRABBLE®. Friends and family make a donation to the SCRABBLE® party for the enjoyment of playing. These donations can be made online or on the actual day of the party. Money raised helps support Frontier College literacy programs across Canada.

It’s about playing SCRABBLE®, having fun and making a difference in someone’s life – one tile, one triple letter and one triple word score at a time.
